Imitation is the best form of flattery

Imagine my surprise when I stumbled across a new recruiter website using a lot of my website's copy. Without my permission, naturally. I did send a very nice email complimenting them on their well-written copy. I am glad to provide copy-writing services to an outfit that calls themselves "the best." Hardly. This is the second known instance of another "recruiter" stealing my website copy. The first scumbag not only lifted entire sections of copy off of my website, he stole actual art that I designed for my site to use on his. Now, back to the other outfit that is supposedly "the best," if they are "the best," they can't create their own copy? That's hardly for "the best" to operate.

This business with WalMart

I was watching 'The View' this morning (it's where I get all my news. Go ahead and laugh) and the bitches there touched upon the freak "Black Friday" incident where a WalMart employee was trampeled to death. Apparently 2000 assholes crashed through the glass doors of the store so they could rush inside to buy discounted TVs, computers, and other shit.

Was it worth it?

The Wall Street Journal writes that police officials where this incident happened feel that the store should have had extra security and better trained employees.

I agree. There should have been extra security. As a matter of fact, the security should have been armed because I feel that 2000 assholes storming a WalMart at dawn deserve to be permanently removed from the planet. The trampeled employee (a temporary employee at that) was just there to do a job. Like everyone else with responsibilities, he woke up that morning to go to work. Unfortunately, this manic society got in his way of not only earning a living, but living out the rest of his life.

It's amazing to me that there are people stupid enough in this country who feel they have to get up before sunrise in order to be in line to buy a bunch of meaningless crap. To take it a step further, these assholes had only their own petty self-interests in mind when they trampeled this man to death. It's been further reported that there were shoppers at the store who were angry that the WalMart in question wanted to close down to deal with the tragedy.

Only in America.

Ft. Lauderdale Tales

Jason as the mechanic

Jason and Ajay

A set

Camp Cock Willow

I am writing from Ft. Lauderdale. I've been here a week working on filming scenes for a new site that will launch mid-December. I can't reveal too much only to say there is some amazing sex, and humor that will be the talk of the Internets. It's been an incredibly fun project to be associated with. I wrote 12 scenes and directed what I call the "Second Unit," essentially the non-sex stuff. I leave that to the pros of the business. But seeing all of this sex filmed (12 scenes in six days) has taught me a lot about the craft. The gents I've been working with know the business well and they're going to deliver some excellent work. So stay tuned!

We shot in various places: in a private home, in a backyard (wondering if the neighbors could hear, "Fuck me Scoutmaster, Cody" coming from one of the models), in two different studios, in a garage, at a resort's outdoor pool where the guests had front row seats to watching us film, and on a trailer set that was something out of Hee-Haw.

When I tell people I've written porn dialogue, they ask me how much goes into writing "fuck me, yes, yes, yes, suck that cock." This porn is a little bit different from the norm. It's a 12-scene series with running characters in outrageous situations with equally outrageous dialogue. But some of the best dialogue came from improvising by the models. We came up with one signature line per scene that was said during sex.

I ended up having to stay an extra day and am not quite sure when I'm returning to San Diego. I'll either be back before or right after Thanksgiving.

Fierce models spread their DNA

On Friday, November 14, several models recruited or discovered by Fierce Scouting completed a photo shoot for DNA Magazine. We believe the issue will be out in January. Shooting with such prestigious publications such as DNA is part of the major opportunities afforded some of the models we place in the business.

Randy Blue Swallows

I need events like Randy Blue night at Club Swallow at MJ's bar in Silverlake (whew!) to reaffirm my adoration for the porn industry. Gay porn mogul Randy hauled 11 of his best studs to this live appearance, and it was a chance to see some of my recruits in action! There was Xander Scott (who I haven't seen in more than a YEAR and we live in same area!), Christian Sharp, Jeremy Walker, and Macon Tyler dancing and grinding their asses off, and posing for pictures with fans. Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to chat with Jeremy or Macon. One of the aspects of my job is that I usually don't get to meet the models I recruit. I'd never seen Jeremy or Macon in person. While standing off to the side of the dance floor, I spied a particularly handsome guy near the bar and thought, "that looks like Macon." It wasn't until I got home and looked at the poster for the event and saw Macon listed. I missed an opportunity to say hi and to introduce myself in person!

Randy was his usual wonderful self. He really is a sweetheart and I love doing business with him. His heart is in the right place. Randy's right-hand man Jose was there to ensure everything went off without a hitch. With all he had to do that night, he texted me directions, and where to park, and met Michael and I outside to bring us in. These gents are just classy all the way around (as is the rest of the RB crew).

My buddy Michael drove for an hour from Orange County to fetch me, then drove another two hours to LA. We stayed until about 1:00 am and headed back.

Unfortauntely, the only photos I could get were what I posted above. That's Christian Sharp and Leo Giamani doing their thing. And they did it so well.

Thanks Randy and Jose for a great night!

Banned at Dlist

So Fierce Scouting isn't good enough to be on the Dlist. That is, Dlist.com, sort of a myspace for gay guys "and their friends." After having a profile there for quite a long time, I recieved this email from them today:

From: ToddNYC
To: sdscout
Subject: Your profile has been disapproved.
Date: November 11, 2008 2:35:34 PM PST
Dear sdscout, While reviewing your profile, we noticed that you are currently not compliant with profile policies. We do not allow porn recruiting on our website Thanks, DList support

I sent the following reply:

You don't allow "porn recruiting," yet your site is nominated for a Cybersocket award (an adult industry website). Have you declined the nomination and removed your site from being voted on?

+ + +

I find it somewhat hypocritical of Dlist to accept advertising from the adult industry and to also allow themselves to be nominated for an award from an adult industry website (for being the best pick up site, no less) but they do not allow "porn recruiting."

I await a reply from Todd.

What gets model submissions deleted

It's been a rather interesting day dealing with potential models. I received an email tonight from someone in Portland, Oregon asking if I was going to "screw him." As in, screw him over. Keep in mind that this was his introductory email to me as a potential model. He didn't include a photo of himself (never a good sign). I'm not sure what is being taught in school about comprehension of the written word, but there are some very stupid people out there.

I place a lot of ads to attract potential models. The ad contains a lot of information. My ad is so good that sometimes other scouts and studios "borrow" my copy.

The ad clearly states potential pay, and where to go for more information (the Fierce website).

Yet, Mr. Portland, who emailed me about getting screwed, just felt it would be faster to dash off a moronic missive rather than taking the time to READ THE AD (what a concept) and do his homework.

A lot of people have the attitude of, "I want it now, so give it to me now, and I don't want to have to work for it." People, if you respond to ANY classified ad for ANY job, read the fucking ad and do your fucking homework about the business you are applying to. Do you need someone to wipe your ass, too? For some reason, Mr. Portland could not understand what the ad said to do, which says, "for more information, go to www.fiercescouting.com." Fierce Scouting has the most comprehensive website for potential models who want to get into the industry. Other studios and scouts "borrow" my copy to use as their own (one disreputable scout in Austin went so far as to copy and paste ALL of the copy off of my site and even used my graphics for his own site).

Such thievery doesn't bother me. What does bother me, however, are people like Mr. Portland who are so completely stupid they send me really obnoxious email and expect a response. I don't bother to respond to such stupidity because I would never represent such a stupid person to my client studios. As if I am going to send Mr. Portland to the first or second most popular gay studios on the Internet.

That would be stupid of me.

I'm tired of thinking about stupid people, so let's watch this video instead:

Calvin Haen Turns In Another Amazing Performance

Calvin Haen has really come a long way since he made his debut on collegedudes247 in the spring this year. His physique is greatly improved and he is now an up-and-coming star. Here's the scoop: It has been a while since we have seen Justin, but we are glad he cam back to get drilled by Calvin! Calvin was so eager to drill Justin that he was pre-cumming a stream while he was going to town on Justins cock - and after Justin gave Calvin a good ass-rimming, Calvin shoved his cock deep in Justins hole and pounded him every which way until they both blow loads of hot jizz! To see more of Calvin and his playmate, click here.

Cidd Pierce Let's It All Hang Out

Cidd Pierce is a new model out of the mid-west. He's recently made his debut on collegedudes247. Here's the scoop: Cidd Pierce has a huge hot cock, and Cidd sure shows us how he likes to use it. We love Cidd for not only his personality, but the way he really gets into his jerk off session. From the minute he took off his shirt and showed us his great abs to the nice creamy load at the end, Cidd really delivered! To see more of Cidd, click here.

Some of our Fierce Models at Work

Fierce Scouting works hard to bring folks in pornland great models. Here are some of our guys in action (note that at least one model in each scene was placed by Fierce Scouting):

It was about time Christian Sharp had his first video with another guy and who better to give him his first male on male blowjob but the sexy Gavin Tate. Click here for the scene on Randy Blue.

+ + +

What do you get when you put three of Randy Blue's hottest guys in a crazy, no holds barred three-way? You get two hot tops, Reese Rideout and Xander Scott, and a very satisfied Cody Fallon. Click here for the scene on Randy Blue.

The 411 on Auditions

I'm proclaiming that "auditions" in the gay entertainment biz are bullshit. None of the studios Fierce Scouting works with (and they are all Top Ten online and DVD studios) requires a potential model to audition for work. This includes guys with absolutely no experience in the business.

What I have found about auditions are that the studios who do them are actually getting a filmed and photographed solo masturbation scene out of a newbie model in exchange for very low pay or - *gasp!* - no money at all. In the worst situations, the model doesn't even realize that their audition is going to be turned into a scene and thrown up on to a porn site and sold.

I don't have much more to say about auditions. I don't believe in them. I think they're bullshit. They're scams.

Here's the only auditions worth viewing:

How to Kill Your Porn Career In Under Ten Months

I just got off the telephone with a fellow agent. We were talking about a model who we were both unknowingly promoting. This happens sometimes because some models think they are smarter than their agents (and the studios) and don’t think we all talk to each other (we do). The problem with working with two (or more) agents is that the model is supposed to be exclusive to one agent. Some agents have model contracts bounding them to be exclusive. I don’t do contracts because I feel if a model feels he can achieve their goals with someone else, they should be free to do so. It’s just how I work.

Back to the wayward model: like so many have done before, his number one mistake is (besides pissing people off in the industry) working with as many studios as possible at the start of his “career.” I use “career” lightly because I am predicting his will be finished before the end of the year. The idea that one should try to get as many gigs at first is a demon. Boys, it’s a mistake and Uncle Fred is here to tell you it’s the wrong way to go about this business.

When a model does a flurry of work with numerous studios (i.e. porn sites), he becomes over-exposed in the market place. When a model’s face (and cock, and ass, and everything else) is seen everywhere on different sites owned by different studios, this means he is less marketable because he’s everywhere. If a model with great potential works for a lot of C or D level studios, this means the A level studios are not going to be interested because the guy is already out in the market and is therefore not going to bring in new sales because consumers have already seen him.

The end result is that perhaps after four to six months of work, the model becomes a has-been and if he is really desperate for work, will accept two hundred dollar gigs here and there.

If a model is smart, he should acquire the services of an agent to help him navigate his entry into this business. A good agent will help a model gain entry into the industry the right way. A dumb model will try to do it his own way, make the wrong choices, and try to pull the wool over the eyes of the very people who are feeding him.

Tomorrow: why “test shoots” and “auditions” are bullshit.

Farewell Summer!

It's been a busy summer at Fierce Scouting. First, we gained new clients and have been busy supplying models to numerous studios. This upcoming week alone, Fierce will have four models at two different studios. Getting the models work entails negotiating scene rates, checking travel availability, making sure the models are current on their STD testing, and keeping the studios happy. It's work that your Fierce scout loves!

The highlight of the summer was getting to visit my great friends at collegedudes247 in Ft. Lauderdale. It was a fantastic weekend. I had the pleasure of meeting Aaron James, Thor Martin, and Titus Gallen - three very hot guys who love performing. Then there was the supreme hospitality of Aaron and Abner, and having two fun nights at Boardwalk bar where Aaron James performed four shows (two a night).

Fierce is ramping up for the fall. I'm excited about the new guys coming into the business and who are going on to our roster. When I say "our," I refer to the company as a whole - the models and my two other scouts. I am going to be doing more work to promote the careers of our roster models, and the first to get the Fierce treatment is going to be Derrek Diamond. We are setting up a photo shoot to happen sometime within the next two or three weeks. If there is anyone in the San Diego area with a great location for photography, please let me know!

Back from Ft. Lauderdale

Today I returned from spending four fabulous days in Ft. Lauderdale. I was guest of client-friends, took in Aaron James' two shows at Boardwalk on Friday and Saturday nights, and spent Sunday night on set for the production of a video (only as an observer, I promise). I will blog more later as my body acclimates back to west coast time.

Florida bound

Fierce Scouting is headed to Ft. Lauderdale for an extended weekend courtesy of my good friends at collegedudes247. Part of the weekend includes taking in Aaron James' appearance at Boardwalk on Saturday night. I'll be returning Monday with pictures! I've never been to Florida (when you live in Southern California, why bother to leave?) and I'm looking forward to some great adventures.

Random Thoughts on a Quiet Wednesday

Shake, Rattle, and Roll
Yesterday was a very dramatic day. I was helping someone through a very difficult situation via the telephone when the "earthquake" rattled through Southern California. I felt it in my bunker located somewhere in San Diego County. I didn't think it was a big deal. In fact, I didn't know it was such a big deal until friends in Virginia and Missouri started emailing or texting me asking me if I had felt the "earthquake." As I was sitting here dealing with someones personal drama, making deals and placing models for work, and talking to potential models about the business, I didn't give the little shake, rattle, and roll much thought. Then my bunker-mate was emailing me to make sure I knew how to shut off the gas and if I knew how to shut off her Mac computers. Then she wanted to know how the cats were (they were both sleeping at the time). After all of these earthquake induced inquiries, I decided to take a porn break and check out the top news listings on Google (I'm so thankful for the Internets). Sure enough, the top news story was regarding this "earthquake" from none other than the 'New York Times.' I could not, and still can not, figure out what the big deal was/is. It's as if this was the first "earthquake" everyone felt. Like I told my bunker mate via email, "I did feel it. But I continued to type while it happened. After it was over, I went to the bathroom and peed." Must have been a slow news day yesterday.

i trained MMA for 2 years now I do solid boxing.. I run 2 miles a day 6 pack abs 1000 crunchs and 500 pushs a day.. dont believe me I will perform 140 pushs in 1 set in front of you to prove my strength... i use to do 10 sets of 100 push ups now i do 5 sets of 100..
great body.. i might change careers to porn.. but i hope its a career and pay is well..
im persian got tattoos and I will do solo and straight sceenes..
hell I dont even care if 2 guys in same vid..
but no homo touching..
My favorite part of this email was the last part, "but no homo touching." Obviously, this person didn't take the time to read my advertisement, nor did he take the time to visit my website which is listed many times in my ad. In other words, he didn't bother to do his homework. I'm amazed by the amount of lazy people who just fail to read and send off incredibly stupid emails such as this to a talent scout who recruits for the gay adult industry! My response to him was that I didn't appreciate his remark about "homos," and I suggested he apply for a job at Wal Mart.

Lucas Entertainment Announces Travel Policy

Seems Michael Lucas is tired of flaky models who don't bother to show up for their flights. Who can blame him? According to the news story, a "disgraceful number of models" failed to show up for production on Lucas' upcoming project being filmed in Atlanta. Lucas' new travel policy, commencing in September, is that models will be responsible for booking their own travel and when the model shows up for work, he will be reimbursed. I say good for Lucas Entertainment. Lucas isn't the only production company with such a policy, and I predict that more studios will follow suit. The policy makes total sense to me. Studios invest thousands and thousands of dollars in production, whether it's a solo scene or a full-blown (pardon the pun) DVD movie. The problem is that there are assholes out there who feel they can either be late for a flight, or they just don't bother to show up for their flight and fail to notify the production company leaving everyone in a hole. Part of the problem is that these models may not be pre-screened and qualified fully to ensure they're right for this type of work. Folks, this is a business just like any other. I support this policy. There it is.

My favorite questions - part one

I receive a lot of questions from potential models. It's part of my job. And I do honestly welcome questions because as I see it, it's my job to educate potential models about every aspect of the business. One question, though, that gets under my skin for some reason, is "can I wear a disguise?" Each time I'm asked that, I laugh out loud. The question comes in all flavors: "can I wear a wig?" "Can I cover my tattoos?" (because, certainly, the face won't give you away), "can I have fake tattoos?" (again, certainly because you face won't give you away), and, "can I wear a hat?" The last one was the latest installment asked of me today. Of course I said, "absolutely not."

Busy July

July is turning out to be an incredibly busy month for Fierce Scouting. Deep within our home office in a secluded bunker somewhere in San Diego County, your Fierce Scout is working with a good number of potential models to bring them into the business. At the same time, I am placing existing models with studios and ensuring everything goes smoothly. Today I had a potential model from Riverside, CA stop by the Fierce bunker for a meeting about working in the business. As I was explaining to him, I rarely meet my models in person since 95% of them come from outside of San Diego and all of my dealings with them is done via email, instant messenger, text messages, or telephone. It can be a solitary existence. I can't say that I miss going to two or three hour meetings in my former career because I don't miss that at all!

Another Fierce Success Story + My Thoughts on Non-Porn Modeling

Frequently, I am asked by potential models if I have any connections with getting models work in the fashion world, or what I would call "non-porn modeling." I usually laugh at this question because of my past experience with that genre of work. And this week's success story is why I find the pursuit of traditional modeling such a waste of time.

This feeling is really unlike me because I am usually the first to tell someone to follow their dreams. But this week I met James, a 21-year-old midwestern guy now residing for the time being in Southern California. James submitted himself to me recently and we had been in contact about his options for adult work. This week, I met him and shot his casting pictures on Wednesday afternoon. Wednesday night I had him submitted to an adult studio for casting. The next day, the studio informed me they were very interested in James. Today, he was offered work. With this particular studio, he will make at least $4300 next month. And if he desires it, he can continue to make more.

James is just one of many guys who fall into the trap of non-adult modeling. He had told me his parents had paid thousands of dollars for modeling classes and portfolios, and out of all of that time and money, he got one modeling gig from Willamina Models and was paid $3500, which didn't even cover the investment his family made.

The truth of the matter is that traditional modeling gigs are far and very few between. When I was promoting models for traditional work, the biggest gig was probably working for a dating site that hired two of my guys to hand out fliers at a gay pride event. Soon after, I threw in the towel and decided that I need to make money (what a concept). I knew I had the talent and the resources to make others money as well.

How many A&F models do you think there are? Maybe eight guys? Now, realistically, with hundreds of men on the roster at most agencies, what are the chances a newbie is going to win one of those slots? I recently chatted with another fellow from the midwest who had told me for years he's been submitting himself to traditional modeling agencies but "has never heard back." I told him that if an agency doesn't respond to a submisison, that is the answer.

James, my model, on the other hand, is going to make considerably more money than he could sitting around and waiting for Willamina to call him. And both he and I know that call just isn't going to come. James is smart in that he was presented with an opportunity and he has the brains enough to take it. The financial reward is going to put his life on track and bring opportunities he wouldn't otherwise have.
